Welcome to our Calculus Wiki!

The most meaningful and satisfying accomplishments come from working with others. In this wiki you will work together to co-author a collaborative solution manual. Within your group, each of you will participate both as lead author and contributing editor to posted problems. As the lead author to a solution you will completely solve a problem, including graphs/images (where appropriate) and a detailed annotation of the steps involved. Here is an example. As a contributing editor you will edit someone else’s work in your group, not your own. You might correct a significant error or several small errors. You may want to reorganize the layout of the page. Maybe you want to edit someone else's entry, not for content, but for the way it's written such as by adding some meaningful color or graphics.

How this works....

In the Sidebar you'll find a link to the WikiWork Problems. In the Navigator you will find your group folder. (If you forget to which group you were assigned look here.) Within your group folder create a new page for each problem and its solution to be worked out. There will be a variety of problems covering both current and past topics. In solving these problems you'll need to use all of the skills we've learned in class. Generally speaking, these questions will require you to review a significant portion of the course. In the Sidebar you will also find a link to the scoring rubric for these wiki problems.

Solving the problems is only half the challenge! You also have to explain the steps you took to do so, including:

  • all calculations done. They should be annotated so that another student who missed class the day the material was taught will be able to replicate your work.
  • what do the numbers mean? Interpret the results in light of the problem given (where appropriate).

Make use of both the Chat Box in the Sidebar and the comment box at the bottom of each page to collaborate on the solution to the problem.Take advantage of the tremendous learning and studying opportunities available to you here. Work together on this to learn calculus!

A Word of Advice....

Don't be overly concerned about how to wiki; it's easy. If you can use a wordprocessor you can wiki. When you click on the "Edit this page" link at the top left corner of any page a text window will open allowing you to modify the page. You'll also find a list of buttons just above the editing window you can use to modify text in the wiki. You can also get help using the link in the top right corner of any page on the wiki. You also may want to explore the links to tutorial videos below.

Work smart, not hard!
